Only a few pages down and some stories become likable. One such story that I came across is The Full Circle by Namrata Gupta.

The novella follows the story of Aditya, a wanderlust who packs his bags and travels the world. His quest to explore and the zeal to learn has helped him acquire one too many skills. He lands in Darjeeling and gets a room for himself with a Mrs. Hudson. Here he crosses paths with Zinnia. Soon this traveller has his heart settled for the uncanny beauty of Zinnia. But Zinnia has a past that even she is unaware of. Her life is in danger and Aditya will be her savior.

The plot is quite unusual and even the settings appeased me. Darjeeling and Siliguri are so picturesque that to read about it made me want to pack and leave. The writing of the author is very impressive. I was few pages in in the novella and developed a liking for author’s ease with words. The description and the drama never went overboard rather it was cut to serve perfection. Being a cinephile I couldn’t overlook the fact that the character of Aditya had similar soul like that of Kabir / Bunny from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The twist in the tale was unexpected but only in a few pages the author managed to give a justified mystery and a climax.

The characters though many but they never complicate the plot. However, I kept feeling that the character of Zinnia was the cliche damsel in distress then there were other girls who needed a boost like Samara and Jacqueline. But the one-on- one of Aditya with these characters is inspiring. Then there’s that part of me which wanted the romance part to have a gradual and slow development. To me it seemed like the love blossomed too quickly between Aditya and Zinnia. The author could have given the lovers a lot more time, I feel. Perhaps because I liked the leads a lot.

Overall, this novella is a quick read at 122 pages and is quite a relaxing read.
