Kulpreet Yadav’s Murder in Paharganj was much spoken about on Bookstagramindia and hence I readily agreed to pick up In Love With Simran, his next thriller. A short read, this book is published by Srishti publishers.
The novel follows the murder of Simran, a college goer who is in love with Nik Sethi, a business tycoon. Simran’s best friend, Sanjana suspects Nik’s involvement in the murder and wants to avenge her friend’s murder. And thus begins the chase.
I really like the way the thriller element is present throughout the novel what I didn’t like was that the climax is sort of predictable. The author tries to take us on a ride but despite not being a fan of thrillers I could easily conclude who the murderer was. Yes, the plot and narration was highly involving. However, certain things were beyond agreeable to me. Like if Sanjana has to practice martial arts for sometime why leave Delhi? She could have practiced it while in Delhi. No? And then, the obscured aim of Sanjana when she falls in love with Nik. I found it little difficult to digest. The romance is peppered throughout the novel but this one is an out and out thriller. And I think the name, “In Love With Simran,” is a lot deceptive. However, come to think of it, the epilogue sort of justifies the name. It gave me goosebumps.
I think it makes for a good leisure time read. If you like thrillers do dive into it. You will like it. I would urge you to read this book in one sitting.
