Ruskin Bond is one of my favorite authors. He will bring out peace in me with his words. I have felt so tons of times now. A gallery of rascals by Ruskin Bond, published by Aleph book company is one such book.

The book is a collection of 30 short stories penned in Bond’s unique style. The language is quite understandable. As the tagline suggest, the book is about Ruskin Bond’s “favourite tales of rogues, raspscallions and ne’er-do-wells.”

Every story is distinct and is sure to surprise the readers. The stories are easily lovable, affable and humorous. I felt like that sometimes the humour is subtle and sometimes lost on you. Major stories are from the author’s past. Some stories like that of uncle Billy may have been read before by the readers. What I loved the most were the stories from “lesser known paths of history.” These stories are the stories you haven’t heard before. The words of Bond bring back childhood and evoke nostalgia.

Overall, this is the collection of amusing short stories you need to bring you out of a reading slump.
