A few days ago I had shared my early thoughts about the book, Defy the night by Brigid Kemmerer.

This is a latest fantasy series from the bestselling author. And also happens to be my first by her.

When I began reading this book, the story ably ensued a tug of war in my mind because the two factions shown in the book were right in their own way. Who will win this cold war was an oft repeated question in my mind. All I can say is that, this book walks through the chaos and towards the climax, with aplomb. The pages are filled with drama so much that you will find yourself hooked to this book. Add a dash of romance and you will go all mush. I did.

Heed this –

“I’m such a fool. I can’t be lusting after him. Not now. Not ever.
My heart doesn’t care. Other parts of me don’t care. My whole body is a traitor.”

But that’s that. It doesn’t go beyond stealing a few kisses in the dark.

However, this was the kind of read I needed after a strenuous month. It reminded me of all the Highland fantasy romances I read during my teens (albeit this one was a lot subdued.)

There’s nothing more I can say about this book except that it is brilliant, immersive and absolutely unputdownable.
